Here at Opal Shed Mining Co we do our mining at a place called Lightning Ridge in outback New South Wales, near the Queensland border. Lightning Ridge is world renown for spectacular Australian black opal.

We mine in one of two ways, either underground mining method, or the more costly open cut method. Both of these methods are outlined on this site for your information, together with some photographs of the mining equipment we use, and some of our family members busy extracting these beautiful gems.
