Campsite at Nine Mile Field Campsite at Nine Mile Field

Our Campsite at Lightning Ridge

When the family are mining at the "Ridge" we stay in our camp situated at the Nine Mile Field. The main camp building is made from coolroom panels, which are easy to cool or heat, depending on the temperature.

The old bus has been fitted out to accomodate extra workers when they are needed. The mining members of the family stay at camp for periods of up to nine months. Between the months of mid-December to mid-March the mine is closed down because of the extremely high temperatures (45+ degrees celcius). This is also the busy time in our showroom on the Gold Coast, and being part of the family also means helping out in the showroom during this "time off" period.
